2024 Teacher Scholarship Program: "Inspiring Educators" Scholarship: Honoring the Heart of Our Classrooms

Program Overview:

At Sunrise Family Credit Union, we’ve always believed in the power of education. Born from the dedication of school employees in 1956, our roots run deep in the educational community. Today, we're proud to carry forward that legacy by honoring the very individuals who shape the future—our teachers.

The "Inspiring Educators" Scholarship is more than just a reward; it’s our heartfelt thank you to the extraordinary teachers in Bay, Arenac County. These educators pour their passion, energy, and love into the classroom every single day, nurturing the minds and spirits of our children.

To acknowledge their unwavering dedication, we will award eight remarkable educators with $250 each. This scholarship is not just about professional development; it's about recognizing the profound impact these teachers have on their students, schools, and communities. They are the unsung heroes who inspire, uplift, and lead by example, and we are honored to support their journey as they continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Current Employment: Must be currently employed teacher in Bay or Arenac County.

2. Account Standing: Must have a professional or personal account in good standing at Sunrise Family Credit Union.

3. Teaching Experience: Open to teachers at all levels and disciplines.

Essay Topic: Submit a written essay of 400-600 words addressing the following:

1. Why did you become a teacher? Share your personal journey and motivations for choosing the teaching profession.

2. What does the "People Helping People" philosophy mean to you? Explain how this philosophy influences your teaching practices and interactions with students and colleagues.

Submission Guidelines:

• Format: Essays should be typed, double-spaced, and submitted in PDF format.

• Length: 400-600 words.

• Submission Deadline: Sunday, October 6th, 2024, at 11:59PM.

• How to Submit: Submit your essay and a brief cover letter (including your name, school, Sunrise Family Credit Union Member number and contact information) to Inspiring Educators Scholarship Submission Form at the bottom of this page. No attachments are required for the form as you will be able to write your cover letter and essay in the form itself. You may also send the application to Camara Mackey cmackey@sunrisefamilycu.org.

Selection Criteria:

• Relevance and Depth: How well the essay addresses the topic and reflects personal insight.

• Creativity and Originality: The uniqueness of the perspective and approach in answering the essay questions.

• Professional Impact: The demonstrated impact of the “People Helping People” philosophy on the teacher’s professional practices.

Award Announcement: Winners will be notified by email no later than Tuesday, October 8th, 2024. The scholarship awards will be distributed by October 11th, 2024.
