The Basics

What exactly is Credit Sense?

Think of it as your personal credit dashboard. It provides your latest score and report, explains the factors affecting them, and highlights offers from SFCU that could lower your interest costs.

Is there a fee?

No. Credit Sense is 100% free for our members. We don't even ask for credit card information to sign up.

How often does my score update?

Your score updates automatically every month as long as you log in to online banking. If you're a "daily checker," you can manually click "Refresh Score" once every 24 hours.

 

Score Impact & Accuracy

Will checking my score "ping" my credit or lower it?

Not at all. Checking your own score through Credit Sense is a “soft inquiry,” which has zero impact on your credit score. "Hard inquiries" only happen when you apply for a loan with a lender.

Why is this score different from other ones I’ve seen?

There are three major bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) and different models (FICO vs. VantageScore). Credit Sense uses VantageScore 3.0 powered by TransUnion. Because every model weighs data differently, it's normal to see slight variations between platforms.

What if the information looks wrong?

If you see an error, you can click the "File a Dispute" link directly within your Credit Sense report. We also recommend visiting annualcreditreport.com to pull your full files from all three bureaus for a deeper look.

Security & Privacy

Does SFCU use this score to make loan decisions?

No. While Credit Sense helps you prepare for borrowing, SFCU uses our own specific lending criteria when you apply for a loan.

Is my information secure?

Absolutely. Credit Sense uses bank-level encryption. Your personal data is never shared with or sold to third parties.

Will SFCU see my score?

No. Credit Sense is a private tool for you. While we may show you SFCU product offers that fit your credit profile, your actual score remains private to you.

Technical & Mobile

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes! Credit Sense is fully integrated into the SFCU Mobile App for both Apple and Android devices.

How do I update my email address?

If you use Credit Sense through online banking, it’s automatic! When you update your email in our system, Credit Sense updates too.
